MS Uruguay is organising a get-together to discuss what it’s like to be a young person with MS in Uruguay. Young MS’ers will be encouraged to talk about their experiences and make a collage with parts of the body and phrases relating to MS. The event will take place in Montevideo on World MS Day. EMUR march with others to improve accessibility for disabled persons in Uruguay

On Monday 3rd December 2012 disability rights activists in Montevideo, Uruguay walked from the University to the City Hall to raise awareness of accessibility issues faced by persons with disabilities in Uruguay. In the weeks leading up to the event representatives from organisations representing the interests of persons with disabilities in Uruguay worked together to draft a statement related to the rights of persons with disabilities.   This statement was read out to the City Mayor on the steps of City Hall and directed at key decision makers in Montevideo.   Disabled advocates who wanted to take part in the action waited at the steps of the City hall to greet those who had marched through the city. A Reason to Celebrate in Uruguay

Esclerosis Múltiple Uruguay (EMUR) has had some exciting news! On the 3rd May a draft of law was approved declaring the last Wednesday of every May World MS Day.  A delegation of volunteers and people with MS went to El Palacio Legislativo in Montevideo for the meeting, here they are on the steps outside shortly before entering: They are hoping the law will be officially passed in time for this year’s World MS Day, when they will be holding an event for their friends, members, government and medical officials, and the press. Uruguayans dance to end MS

Uruguayans living with MS came together to celebrate World MS Day for the second time. “Uruguayans are quite shy, but music makes them so happy that it became a real celebration of the 2nd World MS Day in Uruguay with the band playing.” President of the MS Society in Uruguay. Uruguayans living with MS came together to celebrate World MS Day with a party. A band played lively songs (from the Beatles to Brazilian music) and finished with the Cumparsita tango and uruguayan “Candombe” with drumming that made all the guests dance in their chairs.
