Working with the Ministry of health to improve access to work for people with MS in Cyprus

The Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association is planning a press conference at the Ministry of Health with a focus on ‘The difficulties of Work’. Other activities include a silent auction and public events across the country. The press conference, which will take place on 25 May, will be followed by a round-table discussion with the Minister of Health, the Minister of Social Insurance, and the Minister of Transport. It is hoped that the Ministers will make commitments to improve access to appropriate work for people with MS in Cyprus. On 6 June a charity auction will take place at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia to raise money to support the services offered by the association. Celebrating World MS Day in Iraq

The Iraqi MS Society is planning a series of lectures for people living with, and affected by MS on 26th May 2011. The lectures, which will take place in Baghdad, will include presentations from doctors, therapists, and people with MS, and will encourage peer support. The Minister of Health has been invited to attend alongside a number of prestigious doctors and professors. The MS Society hopes both to raise awareness of MS amongst medical professionals, as well as to strengthen the relationship between doctors and patients. Tweet This Post Share on Facebook

Involving the Minister for Social Affairs in Austria

A one-day program for people with MS followed by a plenary discussion with the Minister of Social Affairs-28th May The Austrian MS Society will host a series of 4 workshops for people with MS on living with MS, medication, therapies, and support both for patients, and their families. The Minister for Social affairs will join them for a discussion about MS in Austria. Working with policy makers to make positive change in Iran

The Iranian MS Society is aiming to reach 2000 people in Tehran alone on World MS Day this year. Key government officials and policy makers have been invited to attend an event for people with MS in Tehran which will include an exhibition of artistic work from people with MS, they are even planning to weave a World MS Day traditional Iranian rug to mark the day! The Mayor of Tehran and representatives from the Ministry of Health and the State Welfare organisation are expected to attend the events as well as other supporters of the MS Society.
