Malaysian MS Society to hold open forum at university

The Malaysian MS Society will be holding a public forum at a university in Kuala Lumpur on 15 June to mark World MS Day 2013. They are hoping the event will raise awareness of MS amongst students and encourage them to get involved with the MS movement. Stepping Out In Style – Supermodel support for WMSD in Malaysia

The Malaysian MS Society (MMSS) “Persatuan Multiple Sklerosis Malaysia” held several activities to celebrate World MS Day this year. Celebrations kicked off on the 12^th and 13^th May in a local mall where a mini carnival was held. Balloons and badges were given out to children and talks were given by Neurologists from Hospital Kuala Lumpur about MS, its symptoms and treatment. Above you can see some of the friendly faces who showed up to support the event. On the 30^th May the MMSS held their “I Walk for MS” event, which was a big success for the society last year and saw supporters and people with MS walking several kilometers through one of Kuala Lumpur’s parks, Titiwangsa Lake. There were around 300 participants on the day including Malaysian supermodel Amber Chia and consultant Neurologists from Hospital Kuala Lumpur. A video of the event can be seen here

Malaysia MS Society “I Walk for MS”

On the 22nd May the Malaysia MS Society set off with over 300 participants on their event “I walk for MS”. The society are delighted with the turn out, which was up from 100 people last year, and the photos of the day show that it was a great success. The day began with a public seminar and a talk given by a Neurologist and advisor to the MS Society, bright and early at 8am. “I walk for MS” – Events in Malaysia

From the 22nd April to the 22nd May Persatuan Multiple Sklerosis Malaysia are holding an awareness raising campaign called “A Wake of Hope”. The campaign includes events based in 5 malls across Malaysia, which have been designed to increase public understanding and encourage early diagnosis of MS. They are also seeking government assistance in improving the availability of drugs to patients. The month long campaign will culminate in “I walk for MS”, which will be held in Taman Lembah Kiara park. Tweet This Post Share on Facebook

The Malaysian MS Society joins the global movement to end MS

Volunteers from the Malaysian MS Society spread awareness about MS at a local shopping mall. Volunteers from the Malaysian MS Society and people living with MS set up camp in a shopping mall for the day to talk to members of the public about the disease. There was a lot of interest in their activities. Volunteers wore T-shirts and bags featuring the Word MS Day logo. Information and advice was available at the stand as well as activities that invited the community to join hands with people living with MS, and to end MS all together.
