On Saturday the 26th May volunteers from the Japan MS Society took to the streets of downtown Tokyo to raise awareness about multiple sclerosis (MS). The team handed out pamphlets containing information about MS. The volunteers were also equipped with World MS Day banners and bright orange t-shirts.
The public were invited to ask the lovely volunteers any questions they had about MS. The Japan MS Society aimed to raise their visibility among the Japanese public and promote World MS Day to people who may not have known about this event. World MS Day 2012 Japan was a huge success with coverage of the event as appearing in several newspapers and all 3,000 pamphlets being distributed within the busy downtown area of Tokyo.

To mark World MS Day this year the Japan MS Society (JMSS) will be taking to the streets of Tokyo to raise awareness of MS. The JMSS aim to connect MS professionals, people with MS and the public together in this public event. Last year the JMSS successfully held a similar activity for World MS Day (WMSD) 2011 where they reached out to several hundred people in the city. WMSD is about raising public awareness of MS. Last year the JMSS co-ordinated research which showed that there are around 13,000 people living with MS in Japan, yet many people had never heard of the disease.
