Raising awareness on the streets of Paseo Las Palmas, Chile

The green apple has become the symbol of the MS Society in Chile. On 22nd May volunteers will take to the streets to raise awareness of MS and hand green apples out to passers by to mark World MS Day 2011. Green ribbons and leaflets about MS will also be handed out throughout the day. Working with policy makers to make positive change in Iran

The Iranian MS Society is aiming to reach 2000 people in Tehran alone on World MS Day this year. Key government officials and policy makers have been invited to attend an event for people with MS in Tehran which will include an exhibition of artistic work from people with MS, they are even planning to weave a World MS Day traditional Iranian rug to mark the day! The Mayor of Tehran and representatives from the Ministry of Health and the State Welfare organisation are expected to attend the events as well as other supporters of the MS Society. Raising awareness of MS in Finland

City-wide awareness raising events confirmed in 17 cities across the country The Finnish MS Society is planning to raise awareness of MS in cities across the country on the 25th May 2011. A book launch in Namibia to mark WMSD 2011

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Namibia are marking World MS Day with a book launch. The book was written by Hein Werrlein, a Namibian with MS, who has written a book about his life. Originally in German, an English edition will be launched on World MS Day, 25 May. Hein was diagnosed with secondary progressive MS in 1995, just seven months after he married his wife, Sigi. Hein’s MS has left him severely handicapped and today he can only move his eyes and smile. Hein was born to German parents in Windhoek, the Namibian capital city, where he has lived all his life. The social welfare structure in Namibia is such that the Werrleins have had to get the treatment and care they need privately.…

Move for MS in Portugal

Move for MS is in its 3rd year in Portugal. Watch out for events in 10 cities across the country! The Gang of MS in Portugal will continue with their ‘Move for MS’ campaign which aims to raise awareness of MS through movement- walking running, and cycling- with the message that people with MS can continue to live a fulfilling life, and that MS affects every person differently. At 7pm on the 25th May people will come together to Move for MS in 10 cities across Portugal: Braga, Lisbon, Oporto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Sintra, Pinhal Novo, Sines, and Lagos.
