World MS Day marked as part of the Italian MS Week

The Italian MS week will run from 21-29 May 2011. Activities will include public awareness raising as well as the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Italian Research Foundation People with, and affected by MS, volunteers, researchers, politicians, and policy makers will all be present at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Italian MS Societies Research Foundation. The meeting, which will take place on the 25-26 May, honours top researchers in the area of MS as well as presenting the most up-to-date research projects and findings. What does MS mean to you? Tell the NMSS in the USA

The National MS Society in the USA will launch a new campaign to mark World MS Day on 1st May 2011 The campaign, MS=, asks people with MS to tell the world what MS means to them. The NMSS will launch the campaign in May so make sure to visit their website and tell them what MS= to you. www.nationalmssociety.org To support the 2011 World MS Day theme, Work and MS, the NMSS is re-launching their self-study programme ‘Career crossroads: Employment and MS’. From round-tables, to tea parties. The all-Russian MS Society has big plans for World MS Day 2011

Activities will be taking place in towns and cities across Russia to mark World MS Day 2011 Traditional Tea parties, press conferences, round-tables and exhibitions of arts and crafts produced by people with MS are just some of the events that will take place across Russia to mark World MS Day 2011. People with Ms in 32 regions will meet with regional healthcare and social protection ministries and/or departments to ask for changes that will positively affect their quality of life. White ribbons, the symbol of solidarity with people with MS in Russia, will be distributed in more than 60 regions with the aim of raising awareness of MS amongst the public. “What I wish my boss knew about MS”. An innovative campaign for World MS Day in Australia

Multiple Sclerosis Australia will launch a new campaign to raise awareness of the problems that Australians with MS face at work. The campaign will ask people with MS to post their ideas on their website and social media sites which will then be used on posters and campaigning material for World MS Day. MS Australia are aiming to reach employers and decision makers to let them know that simple changes in the workplace can have a dramatic effect on the working lives of people with MS. Working with the Ministry of health to improve access to work for people with MS in Cyprus

The Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association is planning a press conference at the Ministry of Health with a focus on ‘The difficulties of Work’. Other activities include a silent auction and public events across the country. The press conference, which will take place on 25 May, will be followed by a round-table discussion with the Minister of Health, the Minister of Social Insurance, and the Minister of Transport. It is hoped that the Ministers will make commitments to improve access to appropriate work for people with MS in Cyprus. On 6 June a charity auction will take place at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia to raise money to support the services offered by the association.
